Volunteer with Smart Girls
Anyone can volunteer for Smart Girls Foundation. It doesn’t matter what your skills, experience or background are or how much time you have to give. Even if you only have a couple of hours a week to spare we’ll have something to suit you. Whether you are retired, a young person, a university graduate or, simply looking to learn new skills – we would be happy to hear from you. Anybody, any age can volunteer for Smart Girls – there is no age restriction. Whatever your interests, whatever your talents, whatever your time: volunteer with us today!
Why should you volunteer?

There are lots of ways you can volunteer:
Schools and youth volunteers
Schools and youth volunteers can visit our community center and surrounding primary and secondary schools that we work with as well as girls groups, delivering assemblies, workshops, enrichment days and raising awareness about different developmental issues.
Girls Educators volunteers
Girls Educators volunteers give talks and presentations at different school and community groups. This could be speaking at our community center, churches, women’s institutes, rotary clubs, guilds, universities or other community or social groups. Your trained to educate girls on all issues affecting them.
Fundraising volunteers raise money for smart girls by organizing different events. From quizzes to barn dances to football tournaments their role is to fundraise in any way possible.
Social media volunteers
Social media volunteers take responsibility for increasing Smart girls’s online presence. This might be by re-tweeting a tweet, posting Facebook messages or writing a blog. The role also involves updating the smart girls Twitter, Facebook and YouTube pages when necessary.
Events volunteers donate their time to smart girls at different any events happening in their communities. They spread the word about smart girls at these events.
We are looking for people who are qualified, skilled or have a specialist in a particular field for volunteer work wherever you may be or come here in Uganda and volunteer at smart girls. Are you a film maker? Photographer? Qualified counsellor? Drug rehabilitator? Social worker? Masseur? Sports nutritionist? Sports trainer or personal trainer? Solicitor or barrister? Accountant or involved in finance? Physiotherapist? Marketing? Media? IT and digital media? The list could go on and on…..If you have a skill or specialism that you believe would help us make a difference – we’d love to hear from you.
Set up or join a smart girls club
Why not start a smart girls club in your church, school, workplace, university or local community? These clubs fundraise, campaign, arrange events/activities and raise awareness for smart girls in their community. It could be anything from arranging coffee mornings to cake sales to lobbying their MP. Your group could get involved in anything you would like to do.

What we’ll offer you when you volunteer for smart girls
- Youth Rising will be on hand every step of the way, providing you with all the training, support, resources and information you’ll need to be an effective smart girls volunteer
- All our volunteers will receive a certificate and reference on completion of their volunteering activity
